Emergency Department
685-5320
Memorial Medical Center was designated as a Level III Trauma Center in 2005. This
level indicates that a number of medical specialties are available on an “on call” basis at
all times. MMC is the only Level III Trauma Center in the northern part of Wisconsin.
The Emergency Department strives to provide prompt and professional care when
you need immediate medical attention. It is open 24 hours a day and is staffed by
physicians who are experienced in treating seriously ill and injured patients. Our
emergency nurses are specially trained in emergency care and are certified in Advanced
Cardiac Life Support and Trauma Nursing.
Shortly after your arrival at the emergency department, a registered nurse will
evaluate your condition, check your vital signs, and ask about your health history. This
process is called "triage," which means "to sort by priority." It ensures that the most
seriously ill and injured patients are seen first. Patients with less serious illnesses or
injuries may be asked to wait, and will be cared for on a first-come, first-served basis.
Walk In Clinic
The Walk-In Clinic is here to provide care for less serious or minor illnesses and
injuries. Typical conditions would include sore throats, earaches, sprains, strains, colds,
coughs, and minor lacerations and fractures. It is staffed by either a nurse practitioner or
a physician, and is located in the Emergency Department
